By Osceola Magic Staff /September 24, 2026

Sept. 22, 2026 – The Osceola Magic have hired Ronnie Burrell as head coach, General Manager Kevin Tiller II announced today.
“Ronnie has 25 years of basketball experience across the Division I, NBA, G League and international levels,” said Tiller. “His knowledge and understanding of the game make him an invaluable asset in player development, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to Osceola.”
Burrell was named the 2023 G League Coach of the Year while at the helm of the Long Island Nets. That season, he was honored as the G League Coach of the Month in January and February, becoming the fourth coach in league history to claim back-to-back Coach of the Month awards. Burrell led Long Island on a 16-game winning streak and constructed the league’s top-ranked defense (103.7 defensive rating).
“I’m incredibly grateful to Kevin Tiller, Mike Sain and the entire Magic organization for this opportunity,” said Burrell. “I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundation already in place in Osceola and forming a team and culture that fans can be proud of.”
Burrell joins Osceola after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets (2023-24) and Portland Trail Blazers (2024-26), and his coaching experience includes assistant positions with Long Island, the College Park Skyhawks and the Chicago Bulls. His extensive player development track record is highlighted by his work with players such as Jalen Johnson, Deni Avdija, Mikal Bridges, Robert Williams III and Toumani Camara.
Burrell played four seasons at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, earning two all-conference recognitions before embarking on an 11-year professional career in Europe. During this time, he appeared in 55 EuroLeague contests and won six domestic league and cup titles. Following his retirement as a player in 2016, Burrell began his coaching career when he served as a graduate assistant while earning a master’s degree in sports management from Florida Atlantic University.
A native of Livingston, N.J., Burrell has one daughter, Camryn.
Dylan Murphy, Osceola’s head coach from 2023-26, is now an assistant coach at the University of Michigan. He accumulated a 93-57 (.620) record over three seasons with Osceola, leading the franchise to the Eastern Conference No. 1 seed each year and earning a trip to the 2025 G League Finals.
