Johnny Taylor
Johnny Taylor is in his seventh season with the Magic Organization. A native of Chattanooga, TN, Taylor starred in college basketball for the Chattanooga Mocs from 1995 to 1997, where he helped lead the team to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1997 and earned conference player of the year honors. Following his collegiate success, Taylor was selected 17th overall in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic.
His professional playing career spanned 15 seasons, including three years in the NBA with the Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets. Upon retiring from professional basketball, Taylor began his coaching career at his alma mater, UT-Chattanooga, under Coach Will Wade, later joining Wade’s staff at VCU as a player development coach before transitioning to the Osceola Magic as an assistant coach.
Taylor and his wife are proud parents of five children, four daughters and a son, and he has especially enjoyed watching his son begin his college basketball journey at Chattanooga, following in his footsteps.
